What You Will Learn

1st Semester

Free Hand Drawing & Illustration Learning how to draw properly includes learning about perspective and the different visual elements such as shape and form, light and shadow, positive and negative space. You will learn the various fundamentals of fine art and how to apply them. After completing the course, you will be able to create your own illustrations for your own projects.
Typography Typography can influence how a person reacts to your design. It is used not only to make your design stand out but also to add meaning to your content. In this course we will teach you how to create your own typeface. You will learn how you can use different typefaces to create hierarchy in your information.
Colour Theories Colour is an important part of the design process. Colour can affect how a brand or design is perceived. We will teach you what each colour symbolizes so that you can apply your understanding to your work accordingly.
Digital Illustration In this part you will be introduced to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. We will show you the basic use of the different tools and how you can translate the Fine Arts learnt in the previous parts into digital forms.
Visual Communication This helps students to a practice-based, hands-on approach to visual communication design.
Students will learn the about vector and raster graphics, how to design with specific audiences in mind, and edit images using some of the most commonly used photo editing software in the visual design industry.
Topics also include the elements and principles of design, color theory, visual perception theories, typography, symbols, brand identity, logos, and information design.
Print & Publishing History of printing, stages of development in printing. Concepts in pre-press, printing techniques, concepts, and techniques of post-printing.
Definitions and terms of publishing.
Advertising and Marketing definitions and relationship with each other.
Printing by type of colors. Color mixing studies, color management systems.
Designing a magazine or newspaper by using Software, preparation of a designed magazine or newspaper to printing.
Packaging Design You’ll learn the art and craft of package design, studying with a seasoned pro. Working from detailed briefs, you’ll learn to design packages for a wide variety of projects, clients, and customers. Key course concepts will include seeing and designing in three dimensions, mass vs. prestige design, and new product launches.
Communications Design: Part 1 Design principles, theories and history
You will learn the history of design to understand how it has evolved over the centuries across cultures.
We put special attention to make sure you learn how to create aesthetic designs.
During the course, you will explore different brands around the world to understand how they communicate their message to their customers. We will show you how to develop a complete brand guideline based on a brand’s philosophy.

2nd Semester

Communications Design: Part 2 You will learn how to respond effectively to communication problems through design as you develop the skills to articulate ideas and approaches and to working independently and in a team. This has multiple projects where you should be able to reflect the outcome of your learning.
Information Design We will teach you the basics of information design so that your content is understandable.
Advertising Advertising can be for online or print media. It is important to know how to solve marketing problems with design for each media.
You will learn to create advertisement for cross media productions.
Mass Communication This prepares students with the required skills of researching, writing, strategizing and effective execution of communication plans. Students will learn to plan, manage and implement a broad range of communication tasks for various sectors, with competencies, among others, in advertising, broadcasting, journalism and public relations related work.
Cross-media Production We will show you how to create designs that can be used in web, print and broadcast media.
Audio Editing You will learn to edit, trim, mix, record, apply effect and align music cues to video clips; edit vocal takes and create smooth audio transitions.
Video Editing Learn a solid basis of Adobe Premiere Pro to help you create and edit video clips, documentaries or short films.
Motion Graphics You will be introduced with Adobe After Effects. Once you are familiar with its functionality, we will show you how to bring your animations to life by adding special effects and motion to them.
